Once you are ready to take the plunge and start an Internet business, whether your goal is $10 or $10 million a year, you need a plan. Just throwing something on a page and hoping someone will send you money for it just won’t be effective.

Start with the market. Have an idea for a product or service? Research the market by going to Google and typing in the keywords for that market niche. If it comes up with LESS than 1 million results you can rank #1 for that key phrase in about 2-3 months time depending if you use Site Source 101 tools or not.

If you already have a product and need to research how to market it, find where the traffic is going. If you are selling Ornamental Indian Rugs, you may want to see what everyone else is calling them before you try to rank high for that phrase. Remember that people are generally lazy online and may not even want to spell out parts of your key phrase such as “Ornamental”.

After you have a niche and a product or service, outline on paper, exactly what you are trying to do. Are you trying to sell an affiliate’s rugs, are you part of a drop ship program? Do you create these rugs by hand? Whatever it may be, write it out so you can visualize what you are trying to accomplish. Write out the price of these rugs, know that there is a market of people that will ONLY buy the most expensive and a market that will only buy the cheapest. Which market are you trying to cater to?

Write out your product or service’s points of difference. Write out exactly what sets you apart from the rest. If you find you don’t have anything different, create something. A 60 day or 1 year money back guarantee, a satisfaction guarantee, free shipping, etcetera. People need to know “why” they need to buy from you. Are your rugs one of a kind? Is there a limited number? Scarcity is one of the most famous and die hard reasons people buy. Scarcity of a product, scarcity of a price, and on and on.

Get a plan for what you’re trying to do, who you want to sell whatever it is you’re trying to sell, through whatever channel you decide to sell it through. Now you’re ready to really make some money.
